The majority of research studies are quantitative in nature, and the appropriate critical appraisal tool should be used based on the study design. In this assignment, you will become familiar with the RCA process and how the results will provide information as to the study's reliability and validity.
You will critically appraise a quantitative study.
Points to ponder for your initial response:
Determine the research method used in this study. Also specify the appropriate RCA tool that you used to appraise the study.
Determine the level of evidence the study represents.
Appraise the statistics mentioned in the quantitative study. Determine whether the study is reliable. Your justification for reliability should include:
The appropriate statistics and an explanation of what that statistic measures
An explanation of what the result tells you about reliability
Assess the study design. Determine whether the study is valid and provide your rationale.
Explain whether the article could contribute to answering the PICOT question. How does the level of evidence represented in the article add to or diminish its value from your perspective?
